We spent two weeks in Tanzania in November 2004. We flew into Dar es Salaam via London (two 10-hour flights in a row), then took a 9-hour bus ride from Dar to Arusha. We visited Ngirisi, a small village near Arusha. We then began our safari. We traveled by Land Rover from Arusha to Ngorongoro Crater, hiked in nearby Empakai Crater, and then continued on to Serengeti National Park. We returned to Arusha, and flew from there to Zanzibar. Finally, we took a ferry from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam, and flew from there to London.

We were very lucky with the animals we saw, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, vervet monkeys, baboons, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, and flamingos, huge numbers of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, and many others.
